Information for those who have Recovered Capacity

The CoMiTED Research team have created a short video to help describe what has happened to you so far and explain why you are involved in the study; please watch this before you read any further.

At the time that you (the patient) were admitted to A&E, you were too unwell to be asked about taking part in the CoMiTED study. However, a decision had to be made urgently so the doctors treating you decided that it was safe and suitable for you to take part in this study.

Now that your condition has improved and it is possible to update you, we would like you to read the relevant letter below which explains what has happened so far and what we are seeking your consent for. The first letter is for those who have regained capacity shortly after their participation began. The second letter is for those who have regained capacity later on and a friend/relative/nominated individual has previously given advice on your behalf. If preferred, you can download the invitation letter(s) by clicking on the ‘Download’ option that is underneath the display.

If you are interested to know more about the study, further information can be found in the Summary Participant Information Sheet and the Detailed Participant Information Sheet which can be viewed by clicking on the links or going to the Information For Patients page. This is the same information which you would have been given if you had been well enough upon arrival at hospital.

If there are any parts of the information shared that you do not understand, or if you would like further information, you can speak with a member of your local participating hospital research team. Alternatively, you can contact the CoMiTED Central Trial Team; see contact information HERE.
